@grant-swinbourne I’ll try with a single exposure later this afternoon when I get home.
Could this be a software glitch? Is it worth a delete and re-install?
Mike
I’ll try the above again when I get home later. If this fails, could it be a software issue? Would a re-install be worth a try?
Mike
- What are the layers before you attempt to add the adjustment layer?
- My single exposure or blended exposuers
- What happens if you have a single layer image initially?
- I am able to Create an adjustment layer with a LM
- BUT when I click APPLY, I lose my adjustment layer and the LM gets applied to the single exposure layer as a mask
- Can you add an adjustment with LM, then successfully add another one?
- No, the new LM adjustment layer with LM completely replaces all the previous layers as soon as I press APPLY
The problem happens as soon as I press apply, even though I've selected the layer that I want it applied it.
Mike
I think you must Apply the mask before you create another LM. If you don't Apply, it will be replaced by your new mask.
As soon as I press APPLY to loose all my layers. See description above.

Sorry Mike, I'm at a loss as to why that would happen. Might be time to ask @jimmymcintyre to see if he has any tips. You could try a delete and reinstall to see if that makes a difference.

Thanks for your help Grant. I feel a reinstalls is in order. I didn’t have this problem with RP3.
I did email the help email but they suggested the same as previous.

Hi there,
I'm not sure I understand the issue 100%. Is it possible to record your screen with the problem happening and upload the video? Becuase from your description, it sounds like RP is working correctly. When you press Apply it should apply the mask to the selected layer. It should delete the IM layer. The initial mask IM creates is a curves layer, but that layer is not meant to be used for anything. It simply houses the mask. If you want to apply the mask to an adjustment layer, press one of the adjustment layer buttons, like Levels or Curves at the bottom of IM, or create a standard adjustment layer from the layers panel, select that layer and press Apply. IF this still sounds like it is not working, please try to upload a video, or email it to helpshutterevolve@gmail.com
Thanks

Neither of your individual methods worked. However, I've done a hybrid method combining elements form both your methods, which has worked! See below:
Apply LMs to an Adjustment layer
- Create Adjustment Layer
- Select Exposure from which to create the Mask
- In IM select the desired LM
- Select the New Adjustment layer
- Press APPLY
I'm going to sleep on it!

@mike-singh I promise if you follow the below steps it will work. If it doesn't just record your screen (even with a smartphone if needed), and upload it for us.
Steps to follow:
1. Press one of the numbered buttons in IM to create your mask.
2. Now press the Levels button at the bottom of IM.
That's it! Done. No more steps. You will now have a Levels layer with a luminosity mask applied to it.
Like I say, if that didn't work, upload a vid of the problem occurring and I will be able to diagnose the problem.
Thanks
This works thanks!
Now...What do I do if I've blended multiple exposures with LMs and I want to use adjustment layers with LMs to make further edits following the blend?
I've made multiple adjustments and now I want to create a Curves Adjustment with Brights 2 LM selected.

@mike-singh Your links say access denied. But have you watched my youtube videos? They will show you how to do this, but basically you do exactly as you've just done. Once the exposures are blended, you press B2 and then the Curves button. That's it.
I've watched your videos extensively and I just can't get it to work after blending. I have emailed the video to shutterevolvehelp.
Mike
@mike-singhI'm responding to your email now. Judging by your video, I think perhaps you have misunderstood how IM works, so I will send you some useful info.
@jimmymcintyre thanks. I am very confused! Thanks for your email.
