I've rendered this one as best I can, (single RAW file / Smart object x3 / blended in Raya 5)

I'm reasonably happy with it, but what could be done to give more prominence to the curtain of rain approaching the land?

All advice welcomed!

I love the rainy mood, and overall atmosphere, and I don't mind that the image is super dark, but if the construction in the center would be slightly brighter to be more visible, I'd like it even more.

Maybe some dodging of the construction would make it more visible, and also dodging of the flowers and vegetation in the foreground would be a plus as well, in my opinion.  Not a lot, not to give an unreal look, but very subtle dodging of the flowers and tips of the grasses.  This is all a matter of personal taste, but straightening the horizon line is probably more serious.

Otherwise, what can I say?  Beautiful place.

Thanks Maria, I may take up your suggestions, but I'm more interested in how to get the rain curtain visible at present.

@taff I think in the sky, where the rain drops appear as dark lines, with a bit of contrast you can make the rain curtain show more, but until I opened your image in PS and zoomed in, I didn't even realize there is rain everywhere, over the building, over the grasses, etc.  At first I thought it was only in the sky.  Over the landscape, on the other hand, the rain drops appear as white lines, so dodging the highlights with a very tight mask may make them stand out a bit more.  Of course, the grasses and other  elements that are within the same luminosity range will be dodged as well, but I think that's a good thing.

Anyway, here is my attempt.

In the sky I increased the contrast and textures  using  Viveza  plugin.  I think "Detail Enhance" in RP5 Actions and Filters will give a similar effect regarding textures, but my PS always crashes when I try to use Detail Enhance, so I had to use Viveza instead.

And on the landscape I selected the highlights from the DB panel, and adjusted the mask to get a very narrow selection of just the brightest pixels.  Then I painted with white.

The rain seems to show a bit more.... I think...  🙂

There may be a better way to do it, and I hope someone else will show us how.
